KAITLYN ALI

Kaitlyn Ali is a multi-hyphenate, Trini-American filmmaker raised between Connecticut and Brooklyn, with a love for all things animation, sci-fi, and an undying devotion to Indiana Jones. A proud member of UNCSA’s Film School Mafia, Kaitlyn dug deep into her (completely reasonable) obsession with post-production, storytelling and the science of filmmaking!

Today, she takes a holistic approach to storytelling — blending her journalism and picture editing background to tell stories with honesty, humor, and maximum vibes. We’re talking visually bold, sonically rich, and emotionally layered. Kaitlyn’s work has been recognized by the ACE Eddie Awards, Shorty Awards, Pan African Film Festival in addition to Dolby and Ghetto Film School who sponsored her directorial debut, Pause/Play, a sci-fi comedy short film.

Heavily inspired by her countless hours in the cutting room with brilliant storytellers like Melina Matsoukas on Queen & Slim, Aaron Sorkin on The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Destin Cretton on Just Mercy, experiencing the craft of filmmaking under their leadership has encouraged her to fearlessly explore the depths of the human experience, pursue a positive impact in her art and create stories that inspire healthy discourse! Most of all, Kaitlyn strives to make a positive impact through her humor, boundless curiosity, and by pushing the limits of the imagination.
